2013 Color Inspiration: EMERALD

Whether you dig a natural version or go for one with polish, Pantone is predicting you'll treasure Emerald Green over the next year!

Emerald is a hue taken directly from nature. What I find most interesting about using emerald in decor or fashion is it has a split personality. Emerald has moods that are downright granola & then it can transform into a glamorous diva at a moment's notice.

Here are a couple ways to make your visitors & friends green with envy by updating your wardrobe or home with this season's hottest hue!

Veritcal Gardens: Living Pieces of Art

I know I have expressed my love for any kind of living wall, art or garden (see some here), but I thought I would spread the green & share some more of my favorites since St. Patty's day is tomorrow! (Side Note: the Greenville St. Patty's Day parade down here in Dallas goes on right outside my office building & people are already parking their cars along the street...already!)

So many pretty colors on the wall full of succulents! Photo via Pinterest

I love the variety you can get with succulents- Photo via Pinterest

Also, I couldn't resist sharing this DIY with you so you can have a different type of a living wall!

via sugar&spice blog

All you need is to combine the following into a blender & blend it until the mixture is smooth!

Contents of your fun time:
One can of cheap beer or 1 1/2 cups buttermilk
A few handfuls of moss

One teaspoon of sugar
Your imagination

Now comes the fun part (or maybe you really like to blend things up & that is your fun part...) you get to start painting! You can use a brush or maybe your own hands to paint the moss mixture onto concrete walls, rocks or brick. You only need to mist the moss once a day to help it thrive. Before you know it you will have your own living green graffiti wall!

Let me know if anyone decides to try this & send me pictures of your backyard creation!

Happy St. Patricks Day!

Fragrances of Summer

The Summer is winding down now, however it is still in full swing here in Texas with 100 degree weather the past month. So, I thought I would share with you some flavorful items and room vignettes I have found that have a hint of summer in them!

When I think of summer it's bright & bold colors. Colors that are found in yummy summer fruit & beautiful flowers that grow in the summertime. I also think of bringing the outdoors inside, so I can feel like I am enjoying Summer without dealing with the blistering heat!

Here are some of those tasty summertime treats for you to enjoy this beautiful, and hot, Friday afternoon!

Even though this summer has been one of the hottest (temperature wise) for me, I still have enjoyed all the sunny days, trips to the farmers market to get fresh fruits, getting sunkissed skin, random road trips, swimming in the glistening pool, & spending time with friends & family.

Have a wonderful rest of your summer...soak up the smells & colors while you have a chance.

FlowerFix.

Hello Everyone!

I hope you had a fabulous weekend. I just wanted to share a beautiful picture of one of my favorites flowers...peonies. They make me reminisce about my childhood home. We had a row of beautiful peonies in shades of pink in our front yard. The smell of them always gets me. Plus, they are gorgeous to look at with their delicate petals that effortlessly float in the air. Enjoy my treat.

FiveTreats.

Love the Craspedia flower!

It’s been a long week, already & that’s not to say it has been bad. Mine has been filled with evening walks, playing with my sweet puppy, red lines on projects, kick off meeting at work (for the project I will be lead project manager for!), and lots of productivity.

I’m excited for a relaxing weekend though, really who wouldn't be?!, & just enough down time to recharge for next week.

Until the weekend, here are a few of my favorite treats as of right now!

I want to make some sun tea this summer...in this Texas heat!

Enjoy your the rest of your week & come back to enjoy some more sweet treats later!
